  • Initiate and support beautification projects such as public art installations, gardening, and cleanliness drives.

04

  • Work with local law enforcement and community groups to ensure the town centre is safe for all visitors, with a focus on reducing crime and improving lighting and signage.

  • Advocate for improved accessibility measures to ensure the town centre is inclusive for people of all ages and abilities.

06

sustainable development

  • Promote and support environmentally friendly practices among businesses and in public projects, such as recycling programs and sustainable landscaping.

  • Encourage the development of green spaces and the use of sustainable materials in any new constructions or renovations.

07

economic development

  • Attract new businesses and investments to the town centre by highlighting its strengths and potential to stakeholders and investors.

  • Work with local government to create incentives for new and existing businesses to thrive, such as tax breaks, grants, or low-interest loans.

08

effective communication

  • Maintain an active online presence through a website and social media to keep the community informed and engaged with FITC’s activities and initiatives.

  • Hold regular meetings and forums to listen to community feedback and address concerns regarding the town centre.

By focusing on these objectives, Friends of Ilkeston Town Centre (FITC) can create a tangible impact on the local community, fostering a sense of pride and belonging while ensuring the town centre remains a vibrant and sustainable hub for all.
